Low consistency refiner.
 

Under the force of the conveying slurry pump, the pulp enters the grinding zone of the refiner. This zone consists of a stationary fixed disc and a rotating moving disc, which is driven at high speed by an electric motor. Both discs are equipped with specially designed refining plates featuring various patterns of grooves and teeth. As the moving disc rotates, strong shearing, rubbing and extruding effects occur between the grinding discs. The fibers in the slurry are cut off, separated and spun into fine fibers. At the same time, the fibers also friction and collide with each other because of the pressure between the plates and the flow of the slurry, further enhancing the refinement and uniform distribution of the fibers.

The interweaving ability of the fibers is improved by refining cuts off and fibrillates the fibers, and it lays the groundwork for the downstream papermaking process.

In starch (e.g. corn, potatoes, and sweet potatoes) production, the low consistency refiner is applied to grind the raw material to separate starch from other components, making it easier to screen and refine the starch through further screening and sedimentation.
